UPDATE: The issues have been sorted out and the signal has been restored.

Since approximately 9 am Jerusalem time, 21 April 2011, the Thaicom-5 satellite, which serves 3ABN’s signal to Asia, Africa, and Oceania, has had major technical issues. As a result, all of 3ABN’s broadcasts are unavailable in those regions. RRsat in Jerusalem, who teleport the satellite signals to Thaicom-5 tell us that there is currently no ETA for when the service will be restored. This issue affects all channels that use the Thaicom-5 satellite.

As the 3ABN signal uplinked to Optus D2 comes from Thaicom 5, this issue affects all 3ABN viewers in Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.

We will post more details as they come.
